Traditional Embroidery Techniques

1. Swati Embroidery

Originating from the Swat region, Swati embroidery is known for its distinctive traditional motifs, rich patterns, and detailed handwork. Floral designs, geometric forms, and decorative borders are often combined to create elegant compositions.

2. Pulkhari Embroidery

Pulkhari, meaning floral work, is inspired by the beauty of flowers and nature. Artisans create colorful floral motifs and flowing patterns that give the shawl a graceful and artistic appearance.

3. Hand Chain Stitch

5. Running Stitch

6. Cross Stitch

Cross stitch is created by forming small X-shaped stitches. It is commonly used for geometric and symmetrical patterns and can create beautifully detailed traditional designs.

7. Zari & Metallic Embroidery

Zari embroidery uses metallic threads to create a refined, luminous effect. Traditionally associated with luxury textiles, it can add an elegant touch to borders, motifs, and special occasion shawls.

8. Geometric Embroidery

Geometric embroidery uses shapes such as triangles, diamonds, lines, and repeating patterns. These designs reflect traditional artistic influences and create a distinctive contemporary appearance when combined with fine wool.
